Help needed!

1.ARBORFEST October 14th, 2017 at Blandy Farm from 9:00am-4:00pm

If you are a club member we could use you to stand at our booth and answer questions for the people who attend this event.  You can sign up for a two hour shift and you can sell your honey, both while you are there and when you are not.  We keep track of what you bring and what of yours we sell.  There will be more information at our meetings to help you understand how you can help us.  Helping set up and break down our display/tent is also helpful.  You can help us even if this is your first year.  I did and found out I did not have to defer any questions to other experienced beekeepers who were at the tent.  It is a great way to gain confidence if you need it to speak to the public about bees.  I am sure you have all done this to your family and friends.  Please consider taking a shift or two.

1. March 2018, Woodenware Workshop Day; contact Doug Koch

2. To use the club extractor kept at Blandy Farm, contact Doug Morris at 540-592-3873 to set up an appointment. Please note: The extraction season runs from June to September but is dependent on the weather.  The weather has to be dry with temperatures above 75F.

Opportunities for you to help our club:

1.You can help set up our club booth at any of several annual events and/or volunteer to help with a 2-hour shift selling products of the hive (e.g. honey, candles, salves, lip balm) and interacting with the general public. You WILL have fun and can sell your honey.  All volunteers get a free parking/admission pass.

2. NATIONAL HONEY BEE DAY – SKY MEADOW - Saturday, August 18, 2018
Doug and Ramona will be spearheading the beekeepers display at Sky Meadow this year for National Honey Bee Day. We setup by 11:00 am and take down around 4:00 pm. It is always a fun time and has good attendance. Contact Doug and Ramona

3. Coordinator of the BONS Mentorship program

Would you like to help the club with a project behind the scenes?  We need someone to coordinate getting club members who volunteer to be mentors paired together with the new members who take the class.  If you have a question before you commit, please contact Charlie Brown, club president.

More opportunities coming - please check back…..

Do you have a talent and some time to help our club?  Tell the club president, Charlie Brown.  We have numerous opportunities for you to help in taking our club to new levels.

Help is always needed and appreciated in setting up and taking down the chairs before and after our monthly general meetings.  This is an   opportunity to provide club service without being “in charge”.  THANKS!
